- 1 can 16 oz refrigerated biscuits, quartered
- 1 pound breakfast sausage
- 6 large eggs
- ½ cup whole milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- For the Gravy
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 2½ cups whole milk
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it into small crumbles as it cooks.
Sprinkle flour over the cooked sausage and stir well. Gradually whisk in 2½ cups milk. Cook until a thick gravy forms. Season with salt and pepper.
Arrange the quartered biscuit pieces evenly in the prepared baking dish.
Pour the sausage gravy evenly over the biscuit pieces.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs and ½ cup milk until smooth and fully combined.
Slowly pour the egg mixture evenly over the biscuit and gravy layers. Let sit for 1–2 minutes.
Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the casserole.
Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the eggs are fully set and the top is golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing and serving.
- Freshly shredded cheese melts better than pre-shredded cheese.
- Spicy breakfast sausage adds extra flavor.
- Letting the casserole rest before serving helps it hold together.
- Great for holiday breakfasts and weekend brunches.
