- 2 cups powdered sugar sifted
- 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
- 3 –4 tablespoons milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon almond extract optional
- Gel food coloring optional
- Sprinkles optional
In a medium bowl, combine the sifted powdered sugar, corn syrup, vanilla extract, almond extract (if using), and 3 tablespoons of milk.
Whisk until smooth and glossy. Add additional milk, one teaspoon at a time, until the desired consistency is reached.
Divide the icing into separate bowls and tint with gel food coloring if desired.
Pipe or spread the icing onto completely cooled sugar cookies.
Use a toothpick to smooth the icing and remove any air bubbles.
Decorate with sprinkles while the icing is still wet.
Let the cookies dry at room temperature for 6–8 hours or overnight before stacking or storing
